Space Clearing for Those Undergoing a Spiritual Awakening

Why your environment reflects your energy—and how to consciously cleanse and restore it.

Space Clearing For Those Undergoing A Spiritual Awakening

A recent client shared his gratitude for the shift he felt in his office after I cleared the energy there. It inspired me to share a few thoughts on space clearing—the practice of cleansing the energy of physical environments.

Your space is an extension of your energy. I rarely clear a space without first working with the person who occupies it. Without restoring your own energy, your environment will often return to its previous state.

Every space accumulates energy from those who pass through it. If an angry person spends time there, that energy can linger. If your evenings are filled with intense or disturbing media, that too leaves an imprint. Over time, these energetic layers build and influence the atmosphere of your space.

Energy—whether positive or negative—is magnetic. It draws similar frequencies toward itself. Interactions, emotions, media, and even fleeting encounters all contribute to the energetic field, compounding over time.

In rare cases, negative energy may even be directed intentionally into a space.

When you begin a spiritual journey, your energy field becomes more active and magnetic. You start drawing experiences and energies toward you, while unresolved patterns within you rise to the surface for healing. At the same time, your awareness deepens—you begin to feel and notice the subtle energies in both yourself and your environment.

This often unfolds in a natural cycle:

  • Spiritual practice activates your aura and non-physical anatomy

  • Internal blockages and wounds rise to the surface

  • Your field becomes magnetised to similar frequencies

  • Awareness expands and sensitivity increases

  • You begin to notice discordant energy in your space

  • You feel called to cleanse and restore both yourself and your environment

  • The cycle continues

As long as you are on this path, regular energetic cleansing can be deeply supportive.

A simple rhythm might include:

  • A light weekly cleanse using herbs, sound, oils, sprays, visualisation, and intention

  • A professional deep cleanse once a year to clear denser energies and support energetic upgrades

  • Additional clearing after renovations or periods of high foot traffic

As your intuition develops, you will begin to sense when support is needed. While tools like sage or palo santo are helpful for clearing lighter energetic residue, they may not address deeper or more complex imprints.

Some common signs your space may need clearing:

  • Difficulty sleeping or persistent fatigue

  • Nightmares

  • Ongoing tension or arguments

  • Unusual pest activity

  • Pets behaving strangely or becoming unsettled

  • Recurring electrical or plumbing issues

  • A subtle (or strong) feeling of not wanting to be in the space

The good news is that energy is highly responsive to intention and can often be shifted more easily than we think.

Your space is your sanctuary. When you care for it consciously, it begins to support you—holding you as your awareness expands and your spiritual journey deepens.
